He Goes Ahead of You

Take this time to pray and thank God for going ahead of you.
Ask Him to help you see His hand working in your life.

Deuteronomy 31:8 “The Lord is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you.
He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

One late afternoon, nine years ago, I was taking my daily walk on the dirt road through our farm. It was a beautiful afternoon, the kind with dark orange skies and unshaped white clouds. It was right before supper, and I wanted to get a good walk in before I ate and started on homework. I was walking down the road, not really looking where I was putting my feet, and choosing another song on my iPod. (Yes, I’m that old). While I was about to take my next step, I heard someone say in sort of a calm whisper, “Look up.” It startled me, and I looked up, and saw I was about to step on a burnt-orange and brown chunky snake lying in a small hole in the road. I was literally one second away from stepping on that snake when I heard those words. There was no one out there with me. I was the only one for miles. My iPod didn’t have a song playing at the moment, so it wasn’t from my music. I stepped aside from the snake and kept walking, shocked at what had just happened. I came to the conclusion that it was God who said that to me. He was with me and was walking ahead of me. He saw that snake I was about to step on, and He intervened. It wasn’t some loud, bright, lighted-message-in-the-sky sort of thing. It was a calm whisper. That’s our God. He’s gentle and kind, looking out for His daughters and sons. He will go ahead of you and be with you, too. He is ever by your side. He won’t fail you or forsake you, and He won’t leave you. You don’t have to be fearful, because you have the Greatest beside you. The Greatest of ALL time.
