If I Were a Tree, What Kind of Fruit Would I Produce?
Father, help me to show kindness and compassion to everyone I meet today.
Please help me to see myself and others through Your eyes!
Galatians 5:22-23 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.“
Would an apple tree have an orange hanging from one of its branches? Of course not. An apple tree will have apples. Just like a fruit tree bears a certain type of fruit, Christians should bear, or reflect, certain traits. If others know that we claim to be a Christian, they expect us to act and talk like a Christian. Galatians 5:22-23 states very clearly what Christian behavior should look like. We should be patient and kind, full of joy and peace. This behavior comes from spending time with, and walking with, Jesus; we tend to act like the people we spend the most time with. Colossians 1:10 “.… so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God." If we are increasing in our knowledge of the Lord by spending time with Him, we will begin to reflect His character. We will begin to bear the fruits of the Spirit Who dwells within us, and, more and more, Jesus will shine through us!
