The Girl God Sees

Heart Prep

Pray to God and ask Him to help you see who you are in His eyes and how much He loves you. Ask Him to open your heart to see a glimpse of yourself that you haven’t seen before.

1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who
has called you out of the darkness into His marvelous light.”

Have you ever struggled with being who you are? Growing up, I used to become attached to anyone and everyone I looked up to countless celebrities from my favorite TV shows; influential people in my personal life; and, basically, anyone who would care about me. I wanted to be like those other people, never actually giving myself a chance to be who God wanted me to be. Having this habit really took a toll on me. The worst and most damaging part of that process happened when those people left my life. I had attached myself so closely to them that when they were no longer there, it was like I had lost a piece of myself. Fast forward ten years: there weren’t too many pieces of me left. Living life is hard when you don’t know who you are, and you don’t know who you want to be. With the scene constantly changing, I never could find a fixed point from which to base my perception of myself. People would come and then leave, and I would be left in the dust. So, I kept changing and changing. Here’s where the story changes. God says that we are CHOSEN. We are a people for God’s OWN POSSESSION. He has chosen us to be His daughters. We don’t have to attach ourselves to other people and hope for the best. We don’t have to be enough for other people; we are enough for Christ. You can finally be you. He is the fixed point of this whole world. He is the only One on Whom we can base our truth. He sees us as so much better than we could ever see ourselves. He sees YOU, and He knows you. He knows your path and your potential. Trust in that truth today. Meditate on this key Scripture and commit it to memory.

Life Application

What is God saying to me through this devotion?

Is there a person in my life that I have attached myself to in an unhealthy way?

How does this change my life, and what are my next steps?
