Truth: You Are Fearfully and Wonderfully Made.

Ask the Lord to help you believe that He uniquely and perfectly designed everything about you.

Psalm 139:13-14 “For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well.”

Do you like to admire the sunrise over the ocean, or the sunset over the mountains? Do you ever stand in awe when you see a rainbow or a gorgeous field of wildflowers? Do you ‘ooh’ and ‘aah’ over a box of adorable, cuddly puppies? God made all these things: they are amazingly beautiful, and we would all agree that He did an excellent job. Today’s verses tell you that the exact same Creator of all the gorgeous beauty on earth took time to specifically design and craft you while you were developing in your mom’s womb.

In the first two chapters of the Bible, Genesis 1 and 2, you can read the story of creation. In six days God created the day, sun, moon, stars, water, land, plants, animals and man and woman. At the end of every day, God looked at what He had created and declared it “good!”

Do you struggle with discontentment about your looks? Maybe you think your face is crooked, you’re too short or too “fluffy,” your hair is bush-like or straight as a stick, your acne is out-of-control, or your toes are too long. Who decided what is beautiful and what isn’t? Who decided what features qualify as gorgeous, perfect, or stunning? Humans set these standards for “beauty”, and humans are flawed and see the world through tainted glasses. It’s important to remember that God does not make junk, and it’s an insult to Him to think negatively about the way you’ve been uniquely designed by Him.

Beautiful girl, you are fearfully and wonderfully made. God took time to make you exactly the way you are, and He did an excellent job. Embrace the way God designed you and hold your head up high knowing that God specifically designed and created you and then took a look at you and said His work was “good!”

Take a few minutes to read the story of creation in Genesis 1 and 2.

What features of your body, or personality traits do you struggle with, and what did you learn today that you’re going to remember when you’re struggling with self-consciousness about these?

Write the truth, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made”, on a notecard or sticky note and put it on your mirror so you can be reminded of this truth every day.
