Come to Me

Heart Prep

Jesus, thank You for offering to take my burdens. Help me to trust You with them.

Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest
for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Have you ever been so stressed out that you’re tired? There are times when life is getting chaotic and I am just heavy. Physically, I want to lie around and do nothing. Emotionally, I want to cry or scream or just kind of numb out, and sometimes, spiritually, I am so tired of fighting battles that I just want to give up and quit trying. Jesus gets it. He was fully man and fully God at the same time (mind-blowing!). He understands exhaustion. He understands emotional turmoil. In fact, once, Jesus was so emotional during a prayer He started sweating drops of blood. He understands fighting spiritual battles. He hears you, sees you,
and gets it.

He offers you and me an invitation to come to Him with our burdens. When all we want to do is retreat within ourselves, He wants us to come to Him. He will give us rest. Jesus tells us that He will give us His yoke, which is easy to wear, and He will help us carry our burdens because He is the Lord of all. He has everything under control. He can handle our problems. He doesn’t need us to carry them alone. We can take our problems to Him, and He will give us rest. When we are weary and heavy laden, He has rest for us. Which would you rather have: a heavy burden or light rest? I know which one I would choose!

Life Application

What burdens are you carrying?

How can you make sure you are taking your burdens to the Lord?

Spend some time now praying and giving God the burdens you are carrying.
