Faith

Heart Prep

Pray and ask God to guide you in your faith while reading today's devotional. Take a few minutes to be silent, and ask God for strength to believe even when you don't feel it.

Matthew 17:20 ”And He said to them, "Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you,
if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you."

Faith means not knowing all the answers and trusting the One who does. We don’t have to understand how the universe works; we don’t have to comprehend the dimensions of heaven and understand the process of spiritual warfare. That is not the point. Faith is letting go and trusting God, even when your way looks dark and impossible, even when the odds aren’t in your favor, and even when the mountain is exceedingly larger than you could’ve ever expected. Mountains can be moved. Romans 10:17 says, “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” Are you struggling with your faith? Get into God’s Word! Get quiet and still and just read and listen. Your faith can be strengthened.

When I was a kid there was a storm moving into our area. I was so afraid of what would happen; I kept freaking out about it and asking questions and was just was so uneasy about the possible outcomes of the storm. I remember, after multiple “meltdowns”, my mom saying, “Sarah, do you trust me?” And I said, “Yes ma’am.” She replied, “Then don’t worry about it. It will all be ok.” After that, I felt relief in letting go and trusting her. Having child-like faith is just simply taking God at His Word about Who He is and what He says He will do. He wants us to trust Him. Life is so much more peaceful when we do take Him at His Word. Let go of your own understanding and take hold of His (Proverbs 3:5-6). There will be mountains in our lives. It’s a good thing our God can move mountains. “With God all things are possible (Matthew 19:26).
