Peace in His Presence

God, thank You for being a Good Shepherd. Help me to seek Your presence when this world feels overwhelming.

Psalm 23; Psalm 23:4 “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”

Some places and situations cause me a great deal of anxiety. I have noticed that the more time I spend busily working and taking care of my family the more I get distracted from the Savior, and my time with the Lord gets neglected. It’s in these times that I can almost immediately see my anxiety levels start rising. Another clear indicator for me is when I’ve been spending a lot of time on social media. When I start doing that, it shows me that I’m not spending a lot of time with the Lord, and guess what, my anxiety creeps right up!

In Psalm 23, David speaks about the comfort he finds in the presence of the Lord. This is a very popular Psalm, and you’ve probably heard it. Verse 1 starts with, “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want…” It goes on to describe God as a caring Shepherd Who leads His people tenderly. Verse 4 explains that even in “the valley of the shadow of death”, which sounds like a very scary place, we can have peace. We do not have to fear anything, not even evil, because God is with us.

The best way to ease your anxiety in this world is to spend some time with the Savior of this World. Allow Him to speak life, truth, and peace into your heart. Allow Him to comfort you when the world feels like a scary place.

What is God saying to me?

Something I want to remember from this is...

How does this change my life and what are my next steps?
