Salvation Foundation
Take a moment to search your heart for any unconfessed sin, ask the Lord for forgiveness, and thank Him for His grace and mercy.
Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
Ongoing sin and unconfessed sin in our lives can sometimes make us feel so bad, so unworthy. We often get to the point where we think that our sin negates, cancels out, our salvation. We must remember, especially during these times, that our salvation never had anything to do with our own righteousness, to begin with. Our salvation is based on the solid foundation and finished work of Jesus Christ. Hold on to this truth! There is nothing you can do to earn your salvation, and once you are truly saved your salvation cannot be lost or taken away, either.
As Christians, our belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is what makes us acceptable to God and allows us to have a relationship with Him. Scripture affirms that when we become a part of God’s family we are in Christ: “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come” (2 Corinthians 5:17). God wants us to understand that our sin and guilt went to Jesus when we accepted Him as our Lord and Savior, and His righteousness came to us, and in that moment we were filled with the Holy Spirit.
Will we sin again? Yes, because of our sin nature. When we do we must confess our sins to the Lord and ask for forgiveness. It is so important to understand that God wants you to rest in the assurance of your relationship with Him. It is secure. Live for God each and every day with gratitude for His gift of grace through His Son, Jesus Christ.
