What is Love? Part II

God, help me to continue to learn what real love looks like and help me show that love to others.

1 Corinthians 13: 4-7 “Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant,  does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;
bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

Back to our list today, ladies. We have a few more qualities of love that the Bible tells us to notice. Let’s continue testing the guy you have a crush on to see if he meets God’s standard of real love.

Love does not seek its own - Does he look out for himself, or does he think about other people?

Love is not provoked - Is he easily angered? Do people have to walk on eggshells around him to keep him from going off?

Love does not take into account a wrong suffered - When he’s making a decision about someone does he bring up mistakes from their past? Does he forgive others and let their mistakes go, or is that how he always remembers certain people?

Love does not rejoice in unrighteousness but rejoices with the truth - Does he get excited when people do wrong, or does he encourage them to do what is right? Does he speak truth or lies?

Love bears all things, hopes all things, endures all things - Does he love you with the kind of love that endures, or is he quick to give up on you or others?

When selecting a guy to date and marry it is so important to choose the kind of man that loves God and shows it through His life. These verses give us a clear picture of what godly love looks like. God’s Word gives us a guide and shows us the truth. The truth is that real love often looks very different than what the world would have us to believe.
