Confirmation

Heart Prep

From whom or what do you seek confirmation? Ask God to help you seek confirmation from Him and not other people. Open your heart to see the areas where you need help with this, and ask God to show you how you can seek Him better.

1 Peter 5:10 “After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.”

Have you ever ordered something online and then waited for that “confirmation” email to make sure the purchase went through? In life we do something similar. When we make decisions or face trials we look to family, friends, adults, and even our own judgment to confirm our choices. But it’s when we look to others or ourselves for answers to what we should do that we fail. Too often we do what feels good. In Galatians 6:7-8, the Bible tells us not to be deceived: “the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh
reap corruption.”

We should look for instruction and confirmation from God when making choices, because He intends for us to live fruitful and prosperous lives. So, how do we seek God’s confirmation? First, cry out to God for salvation. John 3:16 says,  “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” Once we belong to Him John 14:13 says, “Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do....”  Call out to Him for wisdom and for answers. Follow His Word and obey Him every day in your life, and your confirmation will be that “peace that surpasses all comprehension” (Philippians 4:7).

 Life Application

When have you needed confirmation from God? Were you open to His leading, or did you want to ignore what He was saying to you?

What is your greatest struggle right now? How can you seek God about it?

Can you recall an instance where you listened to God’s guidance and, looking back, you can see how He used it for His glory?

Do others see Christ in you during a trial and the decisions you make?
