Do Something
Heart Prep
Take this moment to thank God for sending His amazing love to us through His Son, Jesus. Ask Him to help you feel His love today just as you feel the sun beaming down its warmth. Ask Him to help you to love with action and not just words.
1 John 3:18 “Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.”
Love Does. Love is a verb. God’s Word says not to love with words only, but to love in DEED and TRUTH. Let your love be real and genuine. Let it be a love that does something, rather than saying it will do something but never doing anything.
Jesus told a parable about two sons whose dad told them to work in his vineyard that day. He told the first son and the son said he wouldn’t. Later he regretted this, and went and worked in the vineyard. The dad went to the second son and told him to work in the vineyard and that son said he would. But he didn’t go. Jesus asked the people that were listening which of the sons did the will of his father? Which one did what his father wanted him to do? Everyone answered that the first one did. Even though he wasn’t willing to go at first, later he went. The other son SAID he was going to go, but he never went. Actions speak A LOT louder than words. It’s actions that make the difference in lives. Words can be like honey to someone’s soul, but if there is no action to go along with them, they seem meaningless. Love is an action. It’s a verb. Verbs tell what is being done. Now, to be clear, I’m not talking about “proving your love” by doing things you shouldn’t; that is never proof of love! I’m talking about showing your love to family members, friends, and people around you by being kind, helping them out when you can, listening to them when they need to talk, "being there” for them, and being available and willing to help. Do something! “Love . . . in deed and truth.”
Life Application

What is God saying to me today?
Has love been an action in my life, or just something I say?
